AP Holiday Trip

If you were looking for the AP gals in the past few days and couldn’t find us that is because we were down in Pigeon Forge, TN. It was our annual AP Holiday trip and this year we also took along Simply Love Studio and IDo Signature Events to celebrate the end of the 2010 wedding season. I don’t know if Pigeon Forge will ever be the same:-)

We stayed in a super-fab cabin that was literally on the mountain side where we had no cell phone service, so if you did not get us this was probably why. We pretty much bought out all the stores at the Tanger Outlets and The Christmas Place while we were there and worried the whole time  if it was going to be possible to get all of our bodies, luggage and shopping bags into the vehicle and back to Kentucky.

Food. Oh how we ate while we were down there, but it was so good. From the Apple Barn to Huck Finn and the Partridge and Pear, it was all delicious. However, we would have all gained ten pounds, if not for burning it all off with all the shopping we did!

At times, we all just hung out in the cabin. At one point we played poker (where  I completely dominated) and relaxed. The phones could not ring and emails could not be answered, so it was very refreshing to not have anything to do. However, we aren’t used to that, so this part of the trip did not last long. We get too bored just sitting still!

All in all it was very refreshing and now we are back and ready to get down to business. It’s time to get busy on Wedding Season 2011! YAY!

Below are a couple pics. Please note that the one pic of the car is only after one shopping trip, so you can imagine what the vehicle looked like with four girls’ luggage and the rest of the bags from our other several shopping trips:-)

Simply Love Studio Venue Hop

Always Planned had the privilege of being part of the Lexington Extreme Venue Hop sponsored by Simply Love Studio this past weekend. It was the first time this type of event was held in Lexington. For those of you who missed it…. all I can say is that you missed a great time!!! It was basically a bridal show on wheels where brides and their guests had the chance to check out the top venues and vendors in the city of Lexington!! Food, drinks, gifts and more were given to brides throughout the day. Tops in Lex came out and captured some shots at registration. Below is the link to see all the great pictures they took. WE LOVE LA TAVOLA!

Here at AP we believe that linens can make or break an event. We use a couple of different rental companies… but I believe that we have stumbled upon my new favorite!!! La Tavola Linen has the most beautiful, fun and different types of linens than any linen company around and are still affordable. Love them!!! We just received some this morning that we are using for the Venue Hop that Simply Love Studio is hosting this Sunday. Look how beautiful the one below is that Rayna is holding:-)

Finding the Perfect Planner for Your Wedding!

Notice how I said YOUR wedding?!

There are many types of wedding planners and they are called many things – from Bridal Consultant and Event Planner to Event Designer, Event Coordinator and many more.  It doesn’t matter what your wedding planner is called – what matters is what your wedding planner does and their background.

When you meet with a wedding planner there are a few questions you need to ask.  Here is a great list to get you started.  This list would also be great for almost any vendor.  Please do not leave your entire wedding day to be dependent on someone who is not 100% qualified.

  • How long has you been doing weddings?

Make sure this does not include their own wedding and that of a few friends.  This could be one of the most important questions to ask any vendor.

  • How long will you be with me on my wedding day?

Some planners know that your wedding day could be a 16 hr. day.  Others may only be there to get you down the aisle and start your reception.  It is very important to know what type of service you will receive on your actual wedding day.

  • What made you want to be a wedding planner?

I love this question.  No Joke- I love when a bride asks me this!  I think it shows in the way that my face lights up that I love what I do.  This is an important questions because an answer like “I planned my own wedding, my sister’s wedding or a friends wedding…. ” could spell disaster!  Why?  Just make sure you are not their first wedding outside of family and friends.

  • What makes you stand out from other wedding planners?

Everyone should know their competition and have an answer waiting for this at all times.  There are plenty of wedding and event planners out there, but only one that is perfect for you!

  • Are you certified? If so, with what organization?

This will show that the vendor you are interviewing is serious about what they do and this is not just a glorified hobby.

  • Have you won any awards? Been recognized throughout your industry?

This will indicate his/her concern for staying on top of the latest trends and styles, as well as recognizing the importance of continued education.
