Are you or someone you know interested in our Fall Intern Program? This could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. By joining our dynamic team you could advance your career, earn college credit or gain experience in an industry with amazing advantages, even more amazing people and be involved in some of the areas most stylish and unique events. It’s not all fun and games. We work, we work hard, and as a intern you will have to do the not so fun stuff like organizing, filing, making calls and shopping. Somehow we always seem to work in the shopping angle!

As a current intern, I can tell you that there is no better job out there! Don’t be fooled though, all of the fun that we have is only met with working five times as hard! We play hard but work HARDER! Rayna and Mallory are absolutely amazing to work for and it is the most incredible job! Be prepared to have lots of fun but also expect the unexpected and be willing to put in the effort it takes to create such fabulous events!

Do not call or send an inquiry via our website. Clients and vendors call me and potential clients submit an inquiry on the site. If you want to be associated with Always Planned you must MAIL OR EMAIL Rayna your cover letter and your resume. No exception.
This is a NON-Paid position. It is best suited for someone working towards a college degree and who will receive credit for the hours or for someone wanting to break into the wedding/event field.
You MUST be fun, energetic, organized, detail oriented, creative and patient. If this is not you- please look into other intern opportunities.

True Southern wedding – KY Farm Wedding Pt. 3

One thing I have neglected to mention is that Mallory and Kyle decided on a photographer that I simply adore! All of these amazing images are from a dear friend of mine, Shaun Ring.

Shaun and I grew up together in Mt. Sterling and I have several fond memories of us in High School.

A note to Shaun – I cherish that we are both doing what we love, and I am honored to be in the same industry as you. Not only are you an amazing photographer but you are a dear friend. I will never let you forget the songs you wrote in high school , the time my car overheated in Winchester (when we HAD to get ice cream) and the countless times you played the guitar on my patio. Those memories always bring a smile to my face!

Ok- so now you have seen some of the fantastic details from Mallory’s wedding. Isn’t she BEAUTIFUL! Mallory now lives in Shelbyville with her new husband. AP Hosted June KY ABC Meeting!

Always Planned hosted the June 2009 KY ABC Meeting and we had a fabulous turnout!

Lantern Centerpieces

Our meeting was held at Spindletop Hall from 11am-3pm. This was my first event to be held at Spindletop and all I can say is WOW! Of course it is stunningly georgous, but their service is equally impressive. I highly suggest you look into Spindletop Hall for your next corporate event, gala, or wedding. And as usual Always Planned can be there to make sure your event is even more fabulous!

OK on to the details. Our Speaker was Saundra Hadley, with Planning… Forever Events. She is such an amazing lady bursting with personality and knowledge. The topic of the meeting was How to Close The Deal – Sales Methods for the Wedding Industry. We had approx. 40 people in attendance and everyone from planners, florists, caterers, hotels, venues and even bakeries. Saundra did a fantastic job reaching points with everyone and showing how everything she touched on affects our business. Everyone in the industry simply MUST hear what she has to say.

Meet Our Team – Rayna Ortwein

I am a true Kentucky girl – I have lived here all of my life. I love it, the people and especially the beauty. One of my life goals is to experience other cultures and visit as many countries and cities as possible. My favorite place in the world is the BEACH! It is the one place I can always go to and actually relax. If only Kentucky had a beach….

About Me -

1. Where are you from/background? Where do I start… I was born in Pikeville, KY went to elementary school in Maytown, KY and then we moved to Mt. Sterling, KY for middle and high school. I have lived in Lexington, KY since 1997.
2. What is your favorite …. place to shop, food, drink, etc.. OK- I think I should tell you that I LOVE to shop!! I love the Black Market, Feather Your Nest, Marshall’s, Nordstrom, Rue La La and more…
Fav Food- Good Bread Pudding, Chicago Style Pizza, Fruit!!
Drink- Lately I have been on a Kool-Aid kick- Cherry of course.
3. When did you start with Always Planned? Always Planned was founded in November of 2007.
5. What is your specialty at events/weddings? My specialty is the design and organization. I love coming up with new ideas and techniques. I also specialize in the customer experience- I want you to have a fabulous experience!
6. Favorite part of weddings? When my bride walks down the aisle. I swear I feel like all is right with the world! I also love the “reveal” when the couple has chosen to see each other before the ceremony and when she puts on her dress!!
7. Most memorable wedding? This is a hard one. I seriously LOVE every wedding. Other than my own wedding (of course!) – I would have to say my most memorable wedding is Lyndsay and Eric. I grew up with Lyndsay and loved being able to spend time with her planning her wedding – it felt like my sister was getting married!! (Love you Lyndsay!)
8. Best part of Team AP? How energetic and creative everyone is. We all get along so well and actually enjoy working together- it’s like we are one big happy family.
9. Where do you fit in to the future of AP? I have some pretty big dreams for Always Planned and am looking forward to achieving them!

Eventology 2009!

I have a huge passion for woman business owners! I love the fact that woman are smart and strong. I love that woman can handle any situation they face, refuse to give up and are able to learn from every experience. I love being a woman and owning my own business and I love being around other woman that feel that same fire to succeed.

Eventology 2009 was exactly that situation!

I had the pleasure to attend with my dear friends Sarah – owner of IDo Signature Events, Leona – owner of Lasting Impressions and Alicia and Heather – sales and catering from Belterra Resort Casino and Spa.

There were three amazing speakers:

Liene Stevens of Blue Orchid Designs and The Smart Planner
Saundra Hadley of Planning Forever Events
Terrica Skaggs of Fabuluxe, Inc. and iWed – International Network of Wedding Designers

Who covered topics such as Sales Methods for the Wedding Industry, Nurturing Your Relationships with Clients and Marketing in a Post-Modern World. When we left we could not stop talking about how we are going to change the way we interact with our clients to provide even more of a luxury experience in planning their weddings and events.

We had such a great time and are already looking forward to Eventology 2010! And I just have to add it to my Love-it folder!

Rayna Ortwein – Recipient of 2009 SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year!

I am oh so excited! I just got an email – and in it – the highlight of my day (and probably the entire year!) I just received notice that I am the recipient of the 2009 SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for the entire state of Kentucky!

Can you believe it? I know! I feel like I just won an Oscar! Maybe it’s because I watched the Oscar’s last night and this really the closest I will ever come to that. No matter the reason I am beyond excited, honored and humbled.

If you want to see me accept my prestigious award you can do so in Frankfort on May 13, 2009. Now who will I get to design my gown…. oh wait. There I go again.
