Anytime you ever mention the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort and Spa in front of any AP staffer… you will then get a five minute explanation of why they are so wonderful. Everything about the Marriott located on Newton Pike here in Lexington is stupendous… their staff, the service, the food, the spa, their fantastic room suites and beautiful tents, ballrooms and The Mansion to host a party or your wedding…. IT IS ALL AMAZING. So, you can imagine how excited we were to be invited to a Chef’s Table for Wedding Planners and have been talking about it for days!! Well today was the day we went and the snow and ice were not going to stop us from attending this wonderful lunch.
When Rayna and I arrived we were greeted by Susan and Courtney who are part of the helpful sales team who were going to be joining us for lunch. Then we got to see behind the scenes in the kitchen and then escorted into the office of renowned Chef Sharon where she was waiting on us with already poured glasses of wineJ
We started out with four samples of different appetizers: mini hot browns, crab Rangoon, beef mushroom cap and crab cakes. The mini hot browns were by far the greatest I have ever put in my mouth and the crab Rangoon was absolutely to die for!
Next, we moved onto entrees where we had samplings of four different types of plated entrees that you can have for your wedding or event.
Sliced Tenderloin Almond Crusted Chicken Spiced Shrimp Porkloin
Marriott Steak Sauce Champagne Cream Cheddar Grits Apple Brand Chutney
Garlic Mashed Potatoes Wild Rice Brown Butter Sauce Roasted Polenta
Asparagus Carrots, Zucchini,
Yellow Squash, Peppers
Yes…. We really had everything listed above!!! YUM!!! My favorite was the porkloin with the chutney and polenta. I was literally scraping up every last bit of it. Pork is a hard meat to get just right and this porkloin was cooked perfectly!
Finally, it was time for dessert which is my favorite!! We had butter cake with bourbon sauce! It was seriously heaven on a plate! I don’t care if you do have a wedding cake… if you are having your wedding reception at the Marriott you should definitely treat your guests by serving them this scrumptious dessert!
So, in between stuffing our bellies full we did a lot of talking as you can imagine four women can do. We talked everything from business to cats to tv shows and all in all had a wonderful time with smiles on our faces throughout our lunch. Just another several reasons for me to add to my list of why I love the Marriott so much!

Even as an adult I find it difficult to sleep on Christmas Eve. Yuletide excitement is a potent caffeine, no matter your age.
One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.

I tend to watch a lot of TV and with the invention of the DVR… I find myself sitting on the couch in front of the TV twice as much! So, while I was watching last night I saw that the second season of the show “The Sing Off” which is an singing contest between acapella groups from all over the country starts next week. So, since my mind tends to be in wedding mode most of the time, I got to thinking about how great it would be to have an acapella group for your cocktail hour. Everyone has a pianist or string trio for a cocktail hour, so give your guests a different kind of entertainment! An acapella group is much swankier… and just more FUN than a pianist playing songs that you do not even know!! Just another way to WOW your guests!

Shopping is a woman thing. It’s a contact sport like football. Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.

If you are looking for a stocking stuffer for a bride this Christmas, you should look in to getting her a pair of Tweezerman tweezers. I used to sell them when I was working in a department store a couple years ago and everyone I sold them to loved them. So, when I was looking for something to blog about this morning and came across an article that said that Katy Perry was using Tweezerman Tweezers I thought it would be a perfect blog post.
Every bride (or girl in general) needs a pair of good tweezers and Tweezerman is the absolute best. They all have a slanted design and tight spring that is wonderful for getting those pesky strands that are hard to reach. Plus they are great for putting on fake lashes! Plus they look super cute! Definitely a must have!
So, when you are out and about this Friday in the madness that we love known as Black Friday, pick up a pair of these for the girl(s) on your list! You can find them at Sephora, Walgreens and other specialty stores.
HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

Thanksgiving, man. Not a good day to be my pants.
The girls at Always Planned completed their last official wedding of the season this past Saturday. It was a busy and eventful season, but can be chopped up as the best season ever for Always Planned. We wanted to take a minute and thank all of our 2010 brides, grooms and families for allowing us the honor of being a part of their special day.
