Real Wedding-Laura and Jake

weddings // No Comments

From the moment Laura walked into our studio we fell in love with her… and then a couple weeks later we met Jake and realized she was marrying a gentleman who was just as precious as she was:-) Throughout the planning process we had a lot of fun (we even switched venues a couple of months out) and looked forward to Laura’s meetings where we knew if she was really excited or nervous about something she would be talking really, really fast:-) I’ll never forget the one day Jake stopped in by himself to book a suprise for Laura on their honeymoon and we fell in love with this couple even more.

The day of their wedding was a little rainy that morning, cleared up for pictures outside and then started sprinkling again for the send off , but it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day and we wish them all the luck in the world! Check out the great group of vendors involved in the wedding of this special couple and the pictures taken by Amber Bridges Photography.

Honor your Men and Women

Uncategorized // No Comments

Your bridal party is taking time out of their busy life to be a huge part of your big day, not to mention spending money and resources to make sure that your day is as special as possible. It is important to thank and honor your bridal party for everything they do for you. Of course a gift for each member of your party is a special and traditional way to thank the ones closest to you, but honoring them during your wedding day is a great way to tell them how grateful you are. Mentioning your bridal party in your programs is normally expected, but going one step further to fully integrate your party on your wedding day could really make a huge difference in telling your loved ones how important they are to you. One great way of doing this is to include bios of each member of your wedding party in your reception. Take a picture of each bridal party member and attach it to a short personal bio of them. Include how you two met, a story that exemplifies what they mean to you, and a fun fact about the bridal party member. Individually frame each of these and place them on your gift table. This will give all your other guests the chance to learn more about the members of your bridal party, and tell everyone how important these individuals are to you.

Last week at Bride’s Night Out, I overheard a bride discussing how she wants to give out jars of honey as favors at her wedding. She was saying that she wanted to order jars of honey from a local vendor in town and then fixate a special label on the jar that had her and her new husband’s name and the date of their wedding. I thought this sounded like such a cute idea! Not only does it help support a local business in town, but it is also a unique and usable favor that guests would love. You could even incorporate the jars of honey into your decorations. The jars could serve as centerpieces on your reception tables, or you could make labels with the names of guests or table numbers so people know where to sit during the reception. At the end of the night guests can take the honey home with them, and that is one less thing you have to worry about cleaning up after your wedding is over. Jars of honey would also add a nice touch if you are planning to have a southern feel in your wedding.

If you don’t like the idea of giving out honey, then consider giving out jars of jam or preserves from a local vendor instead!

Inspired by Rebecca!

So we have this amazing new bride with such a romantic love story.  She tells it best, but each time we meet she has mentioned where her new Fiance proposed.  She blushes and smiles and is utterly in love with him and their story – we adore her and each of those romantic moments.  I know that she reads our blog and I wanted to let her know she inspired me.  :)   So this one is for Rebecca!

Bridal Review

Uncategorized // No Comments

If you checked out yesterday’s blog you saw the wedding of the amazing Brittney Nuskey. She was a blast to work with and her big day turned out absolutley amazing. Below is a little blurp that she wrote about Always Planned that I wanted to share:-)

Planning a wedding is always a stressful thing but when we decided to get married in the town where we met, in my home state of Kentucky, we had to plan a wedding from 700 miles away!  When I first thought of planning a wedding in Lexington from the Upper East Side of Manhattan, I wanted to throw up my hands and my lunch.  After scouring the wedding blogs and sites, I discovered Rayna and Always Planned. She then introduced me to Simply Love Studios and all the wonderful vendors! Rayna and Mallory really helped me feel not so overwhelmed by coordinating appointments and making recommendations and kept me focused toward achieving the vision that I had for my wedding day. They were really great in listening to my every wild idea and bless them for not throwing me out with the bath water as I am sure even my best friend or now husband would have after hearing some of my thoughts.  Rayna really helped to keep me grounded.  They took abstract ideas and really brought them together at the ceremony site. The décor really exceeded my expectations for both the ceremony and the reception.  They took all the themes we’d come with and pulled them all together into a gorgeous, memorable day.

It always brings a smile to my face to think back to when I was a kid.  Not only was life must more simple and carefree, but I felt so very loved.  My brother and I grew up in an incredibly small town, playing in the yard walking to school and visiting everyone in the neighborhood.  Now that I think about it, it seems as if we grew up in Mayberry.  For those of you that remember the Andy Griffith Show, you know exactly the place.  Where old ladies bake pies, local crimes consisted of kids pulling pranks on people and everyone knows who you are or who you are related to.  No, I did not grow up in 1960, it was the mid-late 80′s and Dirty Dancing was all the rage (Nobody puts Baby in the corner!).

That seems like so long ago, yet only yesterday.  Time really does fly.  On a recent surprise trip to visit my family, Andrew and I decided to check out my old stomping grounds.  Keep in mind that we left when my brother and I were only 10 years old, but those are the best memories I have and I am incredibly grateful for the years we spent in Maytown, KY.  We grew up playing at the local feed store and visiting with Herb.   I must admit it has changed very little from what I remember when I was a little girl.

So ignore the flip flops in the next photo!  I had much nicer shoes, but had those on for the trip and walking around.

Oh no, by pointing them out, I just realized I made you look at them.  haha

It was such a cool experience to go back home, and to take Andrew.  It is always nice to show him that underneath this city girl is a small town girl at heart.  ;)

More later about why we surprised my family with this mini reunion!

Quote of the Week

Uncategorized // No Comments

My quote of the week this week comes from a current television show “Modern Family.” It airs on ABC on Wednesday nights and if you have never seen it, I suggest you start setting the DVR to record it!! It is by far one of the funniest shows on television right now. Anyway, there is an overweight, Colombian, hopeless romantic young boy named Manny on the show who is around eleven or twelve, but talks and acts like he is a wise, fifty year old man. So cute! On last week’s episode he was speaking with his stepfather about his crazy mother and was saying that in his years of life he’s learned three things “Don’t skimp on linens. Don’t compliment a teacher on her figure. And when it comes to my mom, never ask questions I don’t want the answers to.”
We are always telling our clients “DON’T SKIMP ON LINENS! YOUR LINENS CAN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR EVENT!” It made my day to hear this from a twelve year old boy on tv:-)
