Emily and Bobby!!

Uncategorized // No Comments

Let me start by saying that I truly love all of my brides!

That being said, there is something so meaningful to me to know that I have formed a true friendship with one of my brides.  You see, when I met Emily and her mom I instantly knew that we were meant to be friends.  Emily is the image of a modern southern belle and her mom, Julie sweet as pie! We have dined together and had cocktails together, laughed together and cried together.  And together we transformed Talon Winery into a rustic, romantic and elegant venue for the celebration of Emily and Bobby.  I must admit – that big barn has never looked better!

These first few images were taken by the Always Planned Team and simply do not do the decor justice.

The amazing photos below are from the incredibly talented Melanie Mauer – who when I found out we were working together I honestly started to jump up and down!!  Seriously!

Ok, so maybe this is not a formal introduction but more of a promotion.  Whatever it is, it is fantastic news!

Mallory Harmon has been a part of Always Planned since the very beginning and I could not even imagine Always Planned without her.  When it came time for Always Planned to grow, Mallory was the obvious choice!  With three years of experience, planning her own wedding behind her and amazing attention to detail – any bride would be totally impressed with her style, grace and southern charm.

So what will she be up to?  Mallory will continue her original role, while also taking on a lot more responsibility.  Existing clients and new Always Planned clients will work directly with Mallory as they finalize all of the details for their big day.  Also, beginning in August of 2010 Mallory will join Rayna and Leigh as full service travel agents as Always Planned becomes the ultimate resource in all things honeymoon, all-inclusive resorts and luxury travel.

We are thrilled, honored and excited for Mallory to take Always Planned to a new level.  Congratulations Mallory!

I must admit that when I first met Anjum, I was instantly smitten with his entire family!  I was welcomed into their beautiful home with open arms and greeted by smiling faces each time I visited them in Danville, KY.  When Anjum mentioned his beautiful bride Faezah his entire face lit up and you could feel all of the love and adoration he has for her. It was so utterly romantic and heartwarming!

Anjum and Faezah had a stunningly beautiful traditional Indian wedding ceremony in Vancouver and asked Always Planned to handle their Kentucky Reception.  We enjoyed every moment of the planning and to see it come to fruition was breath-taking.  See for yourself!

If your not already familiar with it, 21C is a museum and hotel in Downtown Louisville dedicated soley to 21st century art.

Talk about a modern place to have an event!  It is one of the most unique and probably the most art-filled locations for a wedding in Louisville–even their restrooms are a work of art! {seriously, check it out}

The Penthouse with rooftop garden is a super swank ceremony location that overlooks the Ohio River and Downtown Louisville.  They have all kinds of luxury amenities, and were voted #1 Hotel in the USA last year.  My favorite perk of having an event at 21C is the fact that they offer their atrium projector {usually reserved for world famous works of art} for all weddings and rehearsal dinners.  Meaning you could have a personalized slide show among several works of 21st century art!

And lets not forget about Proof on Main, 21C’s in-house restaurant that boasts amazing local cuisine with a Tuscan Spirit.  Quite possibly my favorite part of 21C is the adorable 4ft tall red penguins that are strategically placed all over the museum and act as its mascot.  For more information about 21C weddings visit their website or click here.

Check out these photos from our friend Josh at Bellagrace Studios of Louisville. See even more amazing photos of this wedding at Bellagrace Studios’ Blog by clicking here.

I heart the chandeleir light post!

Josie and Adam had a rooftop ceremony :)

Andrew and I (my darling husband) just celebrated our 5 year anniversary!  Can you believe it has been five whole years!!!   Ok, so maybe you can, but for me it feels like just yesterday that he got down on one knee and proposed to me in the bathroom…  yes, I know – so romantic!!  lol  Honestly, it was incredibly romantic and even though he made a true effort two weeks later, with a fab diamond ring, I will always remember our bathroom moment.  ;)

That being said, we decided to plan a trip to New York City in honor of our anniversary.  It just so happened that I also needed to go to NYC for a business meeting – Woman Entrepreneurs Rock the World conference!!!  I had an amazing time; more on that later.

This post is all about NYC and how it can be utterly romantic, fun and exciting!  This story will be told in pictures and will be a detailed account of our trip.  Enjoy!!

The oh so cool Chelsea Market.  We loved it there!!  If you are in the Chelsea area you must stop by.

What is a trip to New York City without stopping at Kleinfeld??  Yes, indeed we did go in.  We were promptly stopped at the door due to the filming of Say Yes To The Dress.  ;(

We took the Staten Island Ferry and got to check out the most famous lady in NYC – the Statue of Liberty.  She looked smaller than I expected.

We met a group of very nice ladies and one of them offered to take our picture.  We rarely miss a photo opportunity. ;)

More on our wonderful trip to NYC soon!

Wedding Shoes!

weddings // No Comments

What girl doesn’t love shoes?

And even if you don’t, we’ve got some options for you too! I am loving that many brides are using their shoes as a way to have a peak of color. Whether in coordinating wedding colors, or as their something blue, it adds some fun to the traditional wedding attire.

If your not a heels kind of girl, then there is no reason to suffer on the biggest party of your life.

Flats and kitten heals are great for heel-haters. Have you seen Father of the Bride?? She wore bridal tennis shoes! As long as its “you”, it will work! And depending on the feel and location of your wedding, other alternatives make more sense.

Beach weddings don’t have to mean white rubber flip flops, there are some fabulous sandals out there. Wedges are perfect for outdoor weddings, where stilettos sink into the grass like quicksand.  All of these fabulous options are from piperlime.com. The blue flats are from nordstroms.com.

Short and Sweet! Inspired by A.P.’s own Amber Boozer, this post is a dedication to the short wedding dress!

It used to be that short wedding dresses were reserved for beach weddings and second marriages, but this easy to wear style has recently gained popularity.  Designers like Oscar de la Renta have added them to their collections and Amsale has there own “Little White Dress” line.  Available in varying lengths (Tea, knee, above-the-knee and anywhere in between) there is a short wedding dress to flatter every shape.

Short dresses work particularly well on shorter brides, as a full gown can sometimes overwhelm them.   Short dresses can save some cash, as they have less fabric and are usually less expensive.  You also have more options since any little white dress could your little white dress. Not only do short dresses give you the opportunity to show off your fabulous shoes, but (BONUS!!) many short dresses come with pockets, who doesn’t love that!  Can’t shake the dream of walking down the aisle in a long gown with a flowing train, but still interested in a short dress too?  Not to worry you can always change into a short dress for the reception.

Not only can you dance all night comfortably but showing off a lil leg never hurt anybody. Above all your wedding dress should reflect your style and make you feel like a million bucks!  Check out these classic looks from J. Crew, Dolly Couture, and Amsale.
