Vendor Selection

weddings // No Comments

I wanted to touch base with you on the importance of choosing the right wedding professionals for your big day.  Andrew and I got married over six years ago and I still think back to my wedding day and LOVE it!  Yes, there are a few minor things I would change, but it was the wedding vendors I selected that make me smile.  From where we got married (Talon Winery) to our florist (Crist Creona) to the food (Thompson’s Catering) and everything in between – all are vital to how smooth your wedding day goes.  The most important to me was our photographer, Frank Becker with The Time Photography.  He was the only photographer we met with and I instantly felt comfortable with him.  His genuine personality, incredible talent and honest approach made him the only choice I was interested in, and in my mind I hired him on the spot.

When you search for your perfect wedding vendors I cannot stress to you enough that you feel confident and comfortable with your selections.  I love when my bride hires me first – it gives me the chance to help them find the perfect vendor for their style, budget and personality.  You only get one chance to make the memories that will last a lifetime.

I think back to my wedding day often and what I remember is not how the food tasted (although it was yummy!), but I remember laughing with my dad right before I walked down the aisle, hugging Andrew’s grandmother at the reception, spending the morning with my mom, watching my new husband play the drums while I danced in the background and I will forever remember my amazing photographer saying “What do you think about doing some cool photos in the barn door?”.  That one photo will forever make me look back on my wedding day and make me feel so beautiful.  :)

Real Wedding-Laura and Jake

weddings // No Comments

From the moment Laura walked into our studio we fell in love with her… and then a couple weeks later we met Jake and realized she was marrying a gentleman who was just as precious as she was:-) Throughout the planning process we had a lot of fun (we even switched venues a couple of months out) and looked forward to Laura’s meetings where we knew if she was really excited or nervous about something she would be talking really, really fast:-) I’ll never forget the one day Jake stopped in by himself to book a suprise for Laura on their honeymoon and we fell in love with this couple even more.

The day of their wedding was a little rainy that morning, cleared up for pictures outside and then started sprinkling again for the send off , but it’s good luck to have rain on your wedding day and we wish them all the luck in the world! Check out the great group of vendors involved in the wedding of this special couple and the pictures taken by Amber Bridges Photography.

The entire day of their wedding you could just tell by the way that they looked at each other deeply in love they were. It was so cute just to watch them interact with one another. Below are the fantastic vendors that made this day seamlessly flow and some beautiful pictures by Honey Heart Photography. Enjoy!

We got an email from Stacy a few months ago after she had become a little overwhelmed with the planning since she was living in California, but getting married here. Her sweet mother (who the whole AP team fell in love with) was helping her with a lot of it, but we came in and gave them all a little more peace of mind. The day was just as beautiful as the bride with perfect weather except for being a little warm:-) The ceremony was very traditional held at Crestwood Christian Church and from the reception followed at Keeneland where guests, family and bridal party danced the night away. Below are the vendors who made this day happen and some absolutely gorgeous pictures from Stacy and Chad’s wedding taken by the amazing SB Childs Photography.

When Jessica, her mom and grandmother first came into our studio we instantly fell in love with them. Jessica is honestly one of the most genuine and sweetest people I have ever met and it was such a pleasure to get to work with her and her beautiful family. Both her and Kyle were all smiles out at Talon Winery where the day was just absolutely perfect. The ceremony was very touching with Jessica’s sister singing for them and guests enjoyed a relaxing reception accompanied by some good music and a beautiful clear night. We wish them all of the happiness in the world and hope they had an amazing honeymoon out in Hawaii.

Take a look at the awesome vendors for this wedding and some beautiful pics of this amazing couple taken by the very talented Ben Keeling.

Cheryl and George are undoubtedly one of the sweetest, most beautiful couples we have ever met and were completely made for one another. They wanted to throw a great party for all of their friends and family and that is definitely what they did! The event was very modern and stylish, but with a few traditional elements thrown in. From the beautiful ceremony with Meeshack the dog walking the bride down the aisle, to the amazing KY themed dinner in the tent without it’s cover, dancing on the patio (and a couple of times in the fountain!) and ending with a midnight snack of moonpies and milk…. the guests at this event are definitely still talking about it.

It was the first time Always Planned was ever “thanked” in a toast by the groom and WE can’t begin to thank Cheryl and George enough for allowing us to be a part of their special day. It is definitely one that we will never forget!

They say that everything is bigger in Texas, so with our groom and his family being from Texas you know this is not your average rehearsal dinner.  We definitely set the bar with this one!

We were contacted several months ago by Nancy, the groom’s mother, and instantly hit it off.  Since there would be a lot of guests traveling from all over the United States and the fact that Nancy lives in Texas she definitely wanted to make the rehearsal dinner a true Kentucky experience.   We started with a masculine color palate, and added intimate details and special touches to personalize this fun and unique rehearsal dinner. 5 Ideas for the Modern Bride!

weddings // No Comments

For brides who are looking for some non-traditional ideas for their modern wedding check these ideas out!!

1) Try adding a pop of color to your simple white dress with a satin sash. Other ideas include one shoulder dresses instead of strapless or a shorter cocktail style instead of a long gown.

2) Choose a mixture of table shapes and sizes to add a modern flare to your reception.  Adding cool lounge areas also give your after party or reception a more contemporary and chic feel.

3) Don’t be afraid to add bright, bold colors to your wedding decor.

4) Adding geometric patterns to your ceremony, reception, cake, and invitations will also give your wedding a modern and chic atmosphere from beginning to end.

A couple of months ago the AP team traveled to Las Vegas where we found some fresh, new ideas for weddings. One of my favorite things we found were lampshades. Now, I know you are thinking…. you can find lampshades anywhere…. but I’m talking battery powered lamps that you can use for centerpieces. Everyone expects candles or flowers, so why not give them something different to talk about!

The lampshades we found from a company called Fancy Faces, are just a round spandex covered battery powered light that you can sit on top of any glassware that you already have. We just used them in a wedding where we used hourglass like, tall vases and submerged an orchid down in it to give it an extra touch of elegance which you can see below. (By the way I can’t wait to share this wedding with with you once we get the pictures from the photographer. It’s amazing!!) Everyone was so intrigued by the lampshades and it was definitely a top conversation piece at all of the tables.

So if you are wanting to add a modern style flair to your reception or just want to brighten it up, be sure to to consider the lampshades. I promise… you and your guests will love it!
