Mondays are always an office day for me and Tuesdays are my “meeting’ day.  This Tuesday was no different and my first meeting of the day sent me to Versailles, KY.  I, along with Mallory and Sarah (Team AP), headed off to the castle.  No, not the jewelry store.  The actual Versailles Castle!  ;)   What a treat it was to meet Jennie the General Manager and take the grand tour.  Pictures were not allowed, but I can tell you that a picture would not do this place justice.  The long wait for it to be completed has been well worth it and CastlePost is a stunning elegant venue.  More details to come as we may have some very exciting news for you.  Our devoted readers will hear it first, so stay tuned!

After our fabulous morning and lunch at Panera we headed off to meet with a new caterer in town.  Shaun’s Custom Catering and Bibs BBQ put on a fantastic show for us as we arrived to a feast of shrimp cocktail, appetizers, pulled pork BBQ and even bread pudding.  I must admit, I am a huge BBQ fan so I thought this could be a difficult sale for the guys at Bibb’s – but WOW, they completely impressed us with their southern charm and delicious food.  We are definitely looking forward to working with these guys soon and trying more of their tastey dishes.   They have been added to our CRP (Cupcake Referral Program), meaning these guys get yummy cupcakes and added to our preferred vendor list.  Love-it!

Our day kept getting better and better.  The folks at the Hyatt never fail to impress us with their hospitality and yummy pasta bar!  They were next on our stop for their Holiday Open House.  We received a personal invitation from Amanda, who are we to say no to fabulous food and good company.  While there we were introduced to the Hyatt General Manager and even ran into some good friends you may recognize – Frank Becker with The Time Photography and Martine Holzman with Martines Pastries.  Forgot to mention that before heading to the Hyatt we stopped by Martine’s to pick up one of their amazing cakes for our AP Holiday Party.  The cake is one of their new Celebrations cakes available for order with a short notice.  While we were there, Martine mentioned they have some big plans coming soon.  All I will say is that AP LOVES CAKE!  So you can imagine how happy we are to hear more cake is in the future.  ;)

Now on to the grand finale to our great day.  I invited Team AP (Always Planned) to our home to celebrate a wonderful year, great friendship and the many blessings we all have.  We had some wonderful food, great laughs, yummy cake and then opened some fun gifts.  I am a huge gift-giver and was so excited about some of the awesome finds I found for everyone.  In return, I also received some personal gifts and memories of a wonderful year.

Vendor Etiquette

Corporate, vendors, weddings // No Comments

Your fabulous wedding would not be as fabulous if your caterer showed up late, your photographer was hungry and grumpy or your band showed up unprepared.  You have worked very hard to make sure you selected the perfect vendors for your style and budget.  The most important thing you can do for your vendors is treat them with respect.  Here are some simple guidelines we live by when it comes to vendors.  If you do not have a bridal consultant or wedding planner then delegate someone to handle all of the needs your vendor may have.

  • Feed your vendors.  While it is not necessary to feed them the $60pp filet or salmon it is standard to provide food for your vendors. Also, be sure to provide drinks for your vendors (no alcohol necessary, but water, tea or soda is nice).
  • Talk with your vendors.  Your wedding takes months to plan, and sometimes years.  Having the right vendors makes all of the difference, but you still have to inform your vendors.  Make a list of songs to play, photos to capture and serving rules.  You get the idea.
  • Gift your vendors.  This may sound like a crazy idea- but why not include your vendor in the festivities.  Wedding vendors sometimes have 40-50 weddings a year, make yours standout by giving your vendor the same favor given to your guests or if there is a vendor you have make a connection with be sure to show it.  As a vendor I can say that even the smallest gifts mean so much.  One of my favorite brides gave me a beautiful broach that matched her dress- I will always treasure it.
  • Thank your vendors.  Be sure to send a Thank You note to your vendors.  I know that as a new bride you have so many people to thank, but everyone raved about the cake, the DJ, the organization of your bridal consultant, etc it is only standard to send a handwritten thank you note.

There you have it.  Seriously it takes so little to say “Thank You” to your vendors and trust me- they appreciate it and it will show during your event.

Of course the best compliment is a referral.  Wedding and event vendors thrive on word of mouth advertising and sometimes it is the only form of advertising they have. That’s why I am adding this to my Love-It!! folder.
